In the third instalment of the Sneaker LAB Artist Series, sneaker care brand Sneaker LAB has teamed-up with, illustrator and street artist, Karabo Poppy to produce the collection Moriri Waka. The collections two contrasting designs feature a long-line tee as well as winter essential hoody.
“The expression of beauty and identity through hair has been a long-standing signature of youth culture. From the “fro” to hair wraps to braids, young people use their hairstyles as a personal expression of who they are and to show the evolution of culture over time, an evolution which has brought us to a time when more and more people are embracing the natural beauty of their own hair. ‘Moriri Waka’, takes the seemingly ordinary aspects of everyday life in South Africa that one would not normally see in media or in contemporary art and portray this in an exciting, modern and celebratory way. Creating representation for the unrepresented and sharing that story.”
Sneaker LAB and Karabo will be celebrating the launch of this capsule on Thursday, 07 June 2018 at Sneaker LAB store (in Braamfontein). The collection is available via sa.sneakerlab.com, and will also be available on Friday, 08 June 2018 at Sneaker LAB store (in Braamfontein).
The Tee retails for R450.00 and the hoody for R800.00.
