From Friday, 01 May 2020 – South Africa will move from level 5 to level 4 of the COVID-19 lockdown.
Level 4 is a slightly more relaxed stage of the lockdown, which amongst other things will allow people to go back to work, to exercise and restaurants to open.
So here’s a roundup of all things that will be allowed and not allowed:
– Daily curfew between 20:00 and 5:00.
– Can run, exercise, walk between only 6am -9am. Within a 5km radius of your home – but not in groups and only.
– There will be a once-off allowance to move from one province to another. Once you have arrived, you will have to remain home and stay in that province.
– No movement between provinces.
– Sectors of the banking and financial will resume.
– Funerals allowed under strict conditions.
– There will be once-off permission for people to move from province to province, only for work purposes.
– Industries and companies have to be COVID-19 ready in terms of safety for workers.
– Borders remain closed, only open for goods coming in or going out of the country.
– Taxis, buses, and e-hailing services, and private cars can operate. Buses and rail will be opened under strict conditions.
– Pubs, Parks, Flea Markets, Public Pools remain closed.
– Restaurants can open for only takeaways that can be delivered at your place.
– Alcohol, Cigarettes, e-Cigarettes, Tobacco products will NOT be for sale.
– Haircare products, Nail essentials will be sold at stores.
– Energy, Fuel, Mining, Refinery companies will be allowed to operate.
– Hotels and guesthouses will not be allowed to be open unless for quarantine purposes.
– Beauty salons and hairdressers NOT allowed to operate.
– Postal services and courier will be allowed to operate.
– Winter clothes, bedding, blankets will be sold at retails stores.
– Energy, Fuel, Mining, Refinery companies will be allowed to operate.
