Deadline for the inaugural Solomon Mahlangu Scholarship Fund is 31 October 2013.
The R20-million scholarship fund was recently established by the National Youth Development Agency with the support of the Department of Higher Education to present marginalized youth with excellent academic background an opportunity to study further at selected universities and universities of technology.
The Solomon Mahlangu Scholarship Fund is open to all South Africans who are not older than 35 who have been accepted to pursue full-time degrees that fall within the priority growth sectors, critical and scarce skills areas outlined in the labour planning frameworks of the country.
The fund will be accessible to deserving South African youth who meet the minimum entry requirements set by the NYDA – youth who have been admitted for study at credible Universities and Universities of Technology, local and international. International scholarships will be considered if they have been endorsed by a South African government department or a credible public or private agency.
Students who will be considered for the scholarship are those who have been accepted to register in the following fields:
- ICT
- Law
- Tourism
- Geology
- Logistics
- Pharmacy
- Journalism
- Agriculture
- Engineering
- Development Studies
- Supply Chain Management
The closing date for all applications is 31 October 2013. Application forms can be downloaded on www.nyda.gov.za or obtained at any NYDA branch.
