Gauteng to get 11 new ‘smart’ schools

Eleven new “smart” schools will be constructed in Gauteng, infrastructure development MEC Nandi Mayathula-Khoza announced on Tuesday.
“The smart schools will incorporate technological learning in classrooms boasting connectivity, Promethean [interactive] boards, visual screens, and technology training centres,” she told reporters in Johannesburg.
“We are developing prototype designs for the new schools based on the smart classroom concept.”
The construction of the 11 schools would begin this year and it was expected that some could be completed by next year.
