Writing takes time and digestion is necessary:
– when you type, all you’re doing is mindlessly transcribing, and that does not require much cognitive activity.
– When you take notes by hand, however, you obviously can’t write down every single word your professor utters. So you listen, summarize, and list only the key points.
– Laptop users remember less information later on.
– Taking notes by hand forces you to actively listen and decide what’s important.
– Taking notes on a laptop hinders your ability to learn.
– Longer notes does not equal better notes.
– Laptops are overwhelmingly distracting.
