It’s not easy being a Student. On top of huge biological and social changes, your future depends on doing well at school, and that’s hard.
Every day, after 7 hours of school, you’re asked to do 3 hours of homework. Though you get support from teachers during the day, you’re largely unsupported and responsible for your own learning at night.
Well there’s an app that lets you take a picture of a problem or type it in and it’ll not only give you an answer, but the steps necessary to to arrive at that answer — and even detailed explanations of the steps and concepts if you need them.
The app is actually designed to answer any kind of school question — science, history, etc. — but the math thing is the slickest part.
“Again and again, we hear that students struggle with math. Every student takes math, often for multiple years, and it can be hard to get help from parents and friends,” says Shreyans Bhansali, co-founder and Head of Engineering at Socratic. “We wanted to create an experience that walks students through their problems, and teaches the concepts behind the problem.”
For example, given the question — “A balloon has a volume of 2.9 L at 320 Kelvin. If the temperature is raised to 343 Kelvin, what will its volume be?” — a tutor would recognize “Charles’s Law” as the concept, and would teach that.
