The University of Witwatersrand has announced that its final year and identified groups of students are expected to return to campus from Monday, 08 June 2020.
This comes after President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the country will move to Level 3 of lockdown from 1 June, meaning industries will resume with business, as well as schools.
In a statement the university said it has developed a schedule for the planned return of students and staff at level three and subsequent levels. Senior executives and managers will refine the plan and will advise on Friday, which student groups should return to campus from 8 June 2020.
“The next two weeks will be used to ensure that our campuses are prepared for the return of students and staff and that all the requisite screening, cleaning, sanitizing and personal protection equipment is in place before members of the community return to campus.”
