Gauteng College of Nursing opens applications for 2027

Applications close 26 September 2026.

The Gauteng College of Nursing has officially opened applications for its 2027 Diploma in Nursing programme. Prospective students can apply to study at one of the College’s four campuses:

  • Ann Latsky Campus
  • Chris Hani Baragwanath Campus
  • SG Lourens Campus
  • Bonalesedi Campus


Who can apply?

Applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen residing in Gauteng.
  • Register a profile on the online application system before submitting an application.
  • Hold a Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate, National Certificate (Vocational), or currently be in Grade 12.

Minimum academic requirements

Senior Certificate

  • English HG D or SG C
  • Biology HG D or SG C
  • Mathematics HG D or SG C
  • M Score of 17

National Senior Certificate (NSC)

  • English Level 4
  • Life Sciences Level 4
  • Mathematics Level 4 or Mathematical Literacy Level 5
  • APS of 27 or higher (Life Orientation counts half)

National Certificate (Vocational)

  • 50% in Fundamental Subjects (English FAL, Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy and Life Orientation)
  • 60% in Vocational Subjects (SA Health Care System, Public Health, The Human Body and Mind, and Community Oriented Primary Care)

Current Grade 12 learners

  • Must meet the NSC requirements based on their final Grade 11 results.

Application process

  • Applications must be submitted online through the Gauteng Professional Job Centre system.
  • The closing date is 26 September 2026.
  • Late, emailed or hand-delivered applications will not be accepted.
  • Applicants must upload the required supporting documents during the online application. Shortlisted candidates will also need to present these documents at the selection centre.

Important to note

  • Shortlisted candidates will undergo a compulsory psychometric assessment.
  • Those who pass will be required to complete medical screening, including a physical examination and document verification.
  • Successful applicants must sign an agreement with the Gauteng Department of Health and participate in Work-Integrated Learning (WIL), which includes shifts, weekends, public holidays, and night duty at public hospitals and clinics.

Applicants who do not receive feedback within three months after the closing date should consider their application unsuccessful.
