Amazon has opened applications for four South Africa-based university internships for the 2027 intake.
Every role is a full-time, 12-month paid internship based in Cape Town, South Africa (with an Operations option that may extend to Johannesburg), aimed at students on track to graduate in Q1 2027 or recent 2026 graduates (within the last six months) bringing them into Amazon’s Retail, Operations, Advertising, Vendor Services, Merchant Services, Prime Video, Prime Now, Amazon Fresh, or Finance teams.
JOB TITLE: 2027 AREA MANAGER INTERN — AMAZON OPERATIONS × 1
About :
- Operations management internship inside Amazon’s Fulfilment Centres, Sortation Centers and Delivery Stations
- Designed to develop future Amazon managers by exposing interns to how Operations managers engage their teams of Associates, hit performance targets, and maintain a safe and productive environment
- Day-to-day work includes diving deep into data, mapping processes and problems, offering and testing potential solutions, and implementing the best ones
- Interns work directly with senior managers, technology development teams, and frontline Associates on real operational challenges in one of the world’s fastest-growing operations networks
- Successful interns can be considered for a graduate role at Amazon after finishing their studies

- A Retail or Vendor Services intern helps Amazon’s most strategic brands grow their business by analyzing category performance and customer behavior, spotting selection, pricing, and availability opportunities, and supporting vendor negotiations and retail operations
- An Advertising intern works with Account Managers to deliver display advertising solutions, learning Amazon’s ad products and targeting capabilities and supporting campaign planning, data analysis and client presentations
- A Merchant Services intern helps third-party sellers grow on Amazon: identifying high-potential merchants using market data and industry intelligence, analyzing seller performance data, and proposing improvement strategies
- Interns collaborate across category, product, and technical support teams, get hands-on exposure to Amazon’s internal tools, and are encouraged to identify improvements to internal processes and the customer experience
