The SABC and its foundation will be hosting a fund-raising telethon for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital on Thursday.
The telethon will take place at the SABC Radio Park in Johannesburg between 06:00 and 09:00.
The public broadcaster says it wants to help make Madiba’s wish for a specialized children’s hospital come true.
SABC Chief Executive Officer Lulama Mokhobo and the CEO of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital Trust Sibongile Mkhabela will be “manning” the lines, taking calls and pledges for the hospital.
They will be assisted by some Johannesburg-based radio personalities every 30 minutes.
President Jacob Zuma is expected to attend the event on Thursday. Zuma will also be interviewed on Morning Live.
One can contribute R20 to the hospital by smsing the word “child” to 4045.
