Capitec is inviting ambitious South African students to apply for its External Bursary Programme for the 2027 academic year, offering financial support to students studying full-time towards undergraduate qualifications in high-demand fields. Applications are open until 12 August 2026.
The bursary is designed to help students focus on their studies while preparing them for future careers through workplace exposure and development opportunities. Successful applicants will receive funding for:
- Full tuition and registration fees
- Accommodation
- Textbooks and study materials
- Meal allowance
- Workplace readiness support after graduation
Who can apply?
Applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be studying full-time in 2027.
- Be registered or planning to register at a DHET/CHE-accredited tertiary institution.
- Be in their first, second or third year of undergraduate study.

- Actuarial Science
- Computer Science
- Information Technology
- Information Systems
- Digital Marketing
- Economics
- Finance
- Mathematics

According to Capitec, the programme supports “bold, brilliant undergraduates” by providing the financial backing and career support they need to succeed. In addition to funding, students gain valuable workplace readiness skills to help them transition from university into the world of work.
