Tyla is offering Music Scholarships to 10 students pursuing Music Degrees

Applications close 30 October 2026.

South African superstar Tyla has partnered with Epic Records to award scholarships to ten young women pursuing music degrees at colleges and universities near select stops on her current A*POP World Tour.

This includes South Africa.

Titled the ‘That Girl Music Scholarship’, the initiative takes its name from a track on Tyla’s acclaimed latest album, APOP*, and will support 10 women students.

The Tyla That Girl Music Scholarship aims to help aspiring musicians take the next step in their careers. Ten students will receive $5,000 (approximately R82,500) each, based on financial need and academic performance, with priority given to eligible students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

The tour stops include New York City, Washington, D.C., Tampa, Atlanta, Houston and Los Angeles, with one scholarship recipient selected from each city and four more from Tyla’s home country, South Africa.

Alongside the $5,000 (approximately R82,500) award, recipients will also enjoy exclusive tour perks, including concert tickets and a meet-and-greet with Tyla.

Applicants must be 18 or older and studying a music- or arts-related degree; South African students are eligible if they are entering or already enrolled at the time of the local concert. Applications must include a one-page personal statement, a 30-second video, an academic transcript, and proof of financial need.
