MultiChoice is offering fully funded film and TV training to creatives in 2026

Becoming directors, filmmakers, writers, producers, and storytellers.

The MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF), a Pan-African film and television training institution, has opened applications for its 2026 intake. The programme invites young African graduates who dream of becoming directors, filmmakers, writers, producers, and storytellers to apply for its fully funded training.

TO APPLY, YOU’LL NEED:

  • CV – not more than 2 pages
  • Personal motivation letter of not more than 500 words (why should you be chosen?)
  • Copy of passport and National Identity document (Certified for South Africa)
  • Copy of matric certificate – certified
  • Copy of academic transcripts / Tertiary qualification Certificate – certified
  • Confirmation of banking details – verified by bank with bank stamp and/or letter (South Africa Only)
  • Proof of residential address

MTF is designed for aspiring creatives who want to tell African stories and help give the continent a stronger voice on the global stage. The 2026 intake offers a nine-month, fully accredited programme that blends theory with hands-on experience. Training is delivered through a hybrid model, combining online learning with intensive in-person sessions.

With academies based in Kenya, Nigeria, and Zambia, MTF supports participants from 14 African countries. Students gain real industry exposure, build professional networks, and develop the skills needed to succeed in today’s competitive film and TV industry.

Since launching in 2018, MTF has trained 296 filmmakers and supported the production of more than 42 films. During the programme, participants learn both the creative and business sides of filmmaking while producing their own original projects. These films are broadcast on DStv and GOtv channels such as Maisha Magic, Zambezi Magic, and Africa Magic, and also stream on Showmax.

MTF graduates are highly in demand, with more than 50 alumni-led production companies already established across the continent.
