Sassa announces 2026/27 payment dates and grant increases

New amounts effective from April 2026.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has laid out its full grant payment schedule for the 2026/2027 financial year, giving recipients a reliable timeline for when their money will come in.

The plan, signed off by the National Treasury in March, also confirms new grant increases starting in April.

The first payment cycle is set like this:

  • April: 2 April (older persons), 7 April (disability), 8 April (children’s grants)

  • May: 5 May (older persons), 6 May (disability), 7 May (children’s grants)

To keep things running smoothly, Sassa follows strict rules when setting dates. Payments are not scheduled on weekends, public holidays, Mondays, or the first day of the month. If needed, dates move to the next working day to avoid delays.

From April, grant values will increase:

  • Older Persons, Disability & Care Dependency: R2,400

  • War Veterans: R2,420

  • Foster Child: R1,290

  • Child Support & Grant-In-Aid: R580

The update brings both structure and slight financial relief, helping beneficiaries plan their monthly expenses with more confidence.
