Joburg City Theatres (JCT) is inviting unemployed South African graduates and young professionals to apply for its 2026 Internship Programme.
The programme offers an opportunity for young people to gain valuable workplace experience within one of Johannesburg’s leading arts and cultural institutions. Successful candidates will be placed at Soweto Theatre in Jabulani for a period of up to 24 months.

Marketing and Public Relations Intern

Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric or N3 Certificate
- National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Marketing
- Public Relations
- Communications
- Media Studies
Skills and Competencies:
- Computer literacy
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with social media platforms
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Design software experience will be an added advantage
Interns will gain exposure to social media management, media relations, content creation, event promotion, stakeholder engagement, and marketing campaign support.
Building and Security Intern

Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric or N3 Certificate
- National Diploma or Degree in:
- Engineering Studies
- Related Engineering qualifications
Skills and Competencies:
- Computer literacy
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Basic understanding of building maintenance
- Basic plumbing and electrical knowledge
- Good communication skills
The internship provides practical experience in facilities management, maintenance operations, safety compliance, contractor coordination, asset management, and infrastructure support within a theatre environment.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens
- Be between 18 and 35 years old
- Reside within Johannesburg communities
- Meet the qualification requirements for the position applied for
- Be available for the full internship period
- Not have participated in a similar internship programme before, unless it was unrelated to their qualification
