Applications for YFM’s 2026 Y Academy Internship Programme are officially open, allowing aspiring media professionals to gain hands-on experience at South Africa’s largest youth commercial radio and media platform.
The 12-month programme is designed to equip young talent with practical skills and industry knowledge across the broadcast and media space.
Successful candidates will rotate through several departments, including:
- Programming,
- Sales,
- Marketing,
- Digital Content,
- Technical and Music, providing a comprehensive look at how the station operates.
During the programme, interns will:
• Learn about radio as a medium, its history, and where it is heading in the future.
• Explore the role of new media in modern business and communication.
• Develop personal branding skills and understand their value across different media disciplines.
• Gain experience in content creation and support marketing and digital teams on projects and activations.
• Participate in the day-to-day operations of various departments.
• Attend practical workshops, in-house lectures and department-specific projects led by industry professionals.
To qualify for the programme, applicants must:
• Hold a National Diploma or qualification at NQF Level 6 or higher.
• Not to be participating in any SETA-funded internship programme.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview before a panel of industry experts, where they will have the opportunity to showcase their creativity, passion, and potential for a career in media.
